There are many factors by which
the Islamic revelation raised the status of women, included
in these are the following:-
i) No longer judged externally:-
a)
Hijaab
b) Lowering of the gaze
This rule is for men and women not to look at those marriable
(non mahram) except for specific needs and exceptions made
by the shari’ah e.g. medicine, teaching, trading etc.
c) The prohibition of tabarruj |
ii) Protected from rape:-
a)
Hudood and Ta’zeer
b) prohibition of khalwaa
c) Segregation |
iii) Rights of marriage:-
a)
Choice of partner
b) The advice to Wali on seeking deen of partner
c) Obligatory kindness on the husband
d) The obligatory presentation of the wife which resulted
in better treatment from husband
e) Right of intercourse
f) Right of foreplay
g) Nafaqah
h) Mahr
i) Not to be struck in face or harmed
j) Deeni teaching obliged on husband |
iv) Not to be pushed in areas
of difficulty and high accountability such as Imaarah and Jihaadv) Right to account khaleefahvi) Right to seek justice through
the qudaa’vii) The right to participate
in the selection of the khaleefah (The women give bay’ah
and could also be in the majlis ash Shuraa or consulted by it
and they full within the general commands of Shura)viii) Right to education and
obligation of deeni education
ix) The encouragement for women
to enter the suitable fard kifaayah spheres:-
a) medicine
b) nursing
c) dentistry
d) child minding
e) education at all levels |
x) The permissabilty of work
in the non-prohibited spheres
xi) The ease in salah by:-

relief from juma’
b) menses |
xii) Prohibition and condemnation
for burying the baby daughtersxiii) The reward of raising
daughters and the supporting belief of qadaa’ wal qadrxiv) The honour of women became
a cause of defence, protection and shahaadahxv) Right of khula’ (for
direct harm, social harm or hatred and permissability by agreement)xvi) Execution of Zaani a) Her
zaani husband b) xvii) Punishment for Qadhfxviii) Created for I’baadah
and can gain more than men through taqwaxix) Reward and status of wifexx) Reward and status of mother
xxi) The prohibition of women
being exploited via:-
a)
Music
b) Films
c) Advertising
d) Pornography
e) Prostitution. |
